Megan is a certified labor doula, childbirth educator, lactation counselor, and postpartum doula. She also is the author of Your Birth Plan: A Guide to Navigating All of Your Choices in Childbirth, as well as several essays about doula support and body size in pregnancy.
Megan has attended almost 900 births in NYC hospitals, birth centers, and homes and she has supported over 2200 families prenatally and postpartum. She has taught 1000s of private and group childbirth classes and assisted clients with every type of preference, intervention, and outcome available. Megan has also mentored more than 100 NYC doulas as they built their careers and honed their skills.
Beyond her certifications and extensive birth experience, Megan has experience working as an on-call hospital-based advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors and brings this background in nonjudgemental, trauma-informed advocacy to her birth work. Megan has a PhD from Binghamton University (SUNY) and uses her academic background to provide you with the most up-to-date evidence based information about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, lactation, infant feeding, and newborn care.
Megan always aims to provide the highest quality, respectful, compassionate support for pregnant people and their families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, infant feeding, and all the challenges of early infancy. She also loves coaching parents through difficult moments in all stages of parenthood and encourages people to reach out anytime if they need support or guidance.
Megan lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn with her husband, Shawn, who is a private piano teacher. They have two young adult sons who are currently studying ornithology and pre-medicine.
Megan is fully vaccinated/boosted for all CDC recommended vaccines for people who care for pregnant and postpartum people and newborns.
