Megan Davidson, PhD

Megan is a certified labor doula, childbirth educator, lactation counselor and postpartum doula. She also is the author of  Your Birth Plan: A Guide to Navigating All of Your Choices in Childbirth, as well as several essays about doula support and body size in pregnancy.

Megan has attended more than 800 births in NYC hospitals, birth centers, and homes and she has supported nearly 2000 families prenatally and postpartum. She has taught 1000s of private and group childbirth classes and  assisted clients with every type of preference, intervention, and outcome available. Megan has also mentored more than 100 NYC doulas as they built their careers and honed their skills.

Beyond her certifications and extensive birth experience, Megan has experience working as an on-call hospital-based advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors and brings this background in nonjudgemental advocacy to her birth work. Megan has a PhD from Binghamton University (SUNY) and uses her academic background to provide you with the most up-to-date evidence based information about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, lactation, infant feeding, and newborn care.

Megan always aims to provide the highest quality, respectful, compassionate support for pregnant people and their families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, chest/breastfeeding, and all the challenges of early infancy.

Megan lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn with her husband, Shawn, who is a private piano teacher and their teenage son Clay. Her older son, August, is currently in college studying ornithology.

Megan is fully vaccinated/boosted for Covid-19, as well as all CDC recommended vaccines for people who care for pregnant and postpartum people and newborns.
